Created after Hurricane Katrina, Tide’s “Loads of Hope” has since cleaned more than 30,000 loads of laundry in disaster sites around the U.S., most recently in flooded Tennessee and Kentucky. The program is funded in part by the sales of vintage t-shirts and a percentage of Tide sales.

When finished, the Center will be completely off the grid, housing classrooms, recycling centers, a greenhouse, and workshops for students to study the building itself, which is designed to teach sustainability as well as provide space to study energy uses. Located in Fairfield, Iowa, the school promotes living in harmony with nature, and offers a Sustainable Living Degree program.
