  Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, July 19th: UPS has expanded its carbon neutral  (More)Hello, I’m Gretchen Siegchrist, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Monday, July 19th: UPS has expanded its carbon neutral shipping program to 35 countries and territories across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. UPS customers in those locations now have the option of paying a small fee to offset the carbon emissions related to their shipments. UPS is also expanding access to the program in the United States, started last fall, by making it available to all shippers at UPS.com and those who use UPS CampuShip. As part of the international launch, UPS has purchased offsets from the Garcia River Forest Climate Action Project, overseen by The Nature Conservancy, and the Conservation Fund. Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, has announced plans to give more than half of his $13.5 billion fortune to philanthropy. The announcement was a response to Warren Buffet’s new program, The Giving Pledge, started last month, that aims to get the country’s billionaires to devote half their fortunes to charity.
